Forceful evictions by law enforcement officers have increased over the past few years creating a new breed of renters called “Nomadic Tenants”. These types of tenants know the system well and could slip into one of your apartment units if you make the mistake of not running an eviction check on them before signing a lease. Running a credit check is necessary but not sufficient on its own to adequately screen a potential tenant prior to renting. It is recommended that adding an eviction search and national criminal background check to an existing tenant screening program will pay off in the long run.
